HOW TO JOIN THE WOMEN'S ATHLETIC CLUB OF GLENDALE

 

Section 1

Individuals who are interested in active participation in WAC may apply for membership.

 

Section 2

Agreement to the bylaws will be signed upon application to the club. The applicant shall conform to all standing rules of any chosen department when accepted as a member.

 

Section 3

For prospective members who are applying and wish to join a Club Department, the Application shall be presented to the Department Chairperson for processing. For prospective members who are applying as a Member At Large, applications shall be submitted to a member of the Board of Directors for processing. Once approved for membership, the Membership Coordinator shall immediately update Membership records, and the new member shall be welcomed.

 

Section 4

Members will be considered to be in good standing if they are current with annual dues, any department dues and have complied with Club Bylaws and Standing Rules.

 

Section 5

Upon written request from five members, the Board of Directors may appoint a committee to investigate charges against a member. Upon recommendations of the investigating committee, the member may be dropped by a majority vote of the Board of Directors.

CLUB RULES FOR DEPARTMENTS

 

Each department shall have at least one regularly scheduled business meeting during the year. The department rules shall be distributed and read at the meeting.

 

Each department shall hold nominations for Chair in April and elect a Chair in May.

 

If the department requires annual dues, only members whose club dues are paid may join a department.

 

Any department may choose to recognize an outstanding active participant at the Annual Membership Meeting in May.

 

Members may bring the same guest to a department activity not to exceed twice in any one year. A guest who is a prospective member may attend and participate twice in an activity before filing an application for club membership. They may continue to participate while their applications are pending

 

One-third of the members in each department, in good standing, constitutes a quorum.

 

No one shall be elected chair of a department unless they have been a member of that department for one club year.

 

No department shall sponsor benefits or contributions to outside projects without the knowledge of the Board.

 

Each department shall appoint one member to the Nominating Committee in December.
